Feelings and Moods
André (medical psychology, U of Paris X) accounts for feelings and moods, the everyday versions of our psyches, the ways they affect us, and the ways we can use them to our own advantage. He begins by examining our understanding of feelings and moods, our rumination on them that accentuates them, and what happens when we lose control. He then examines our suffering in feelings or moods, such as painful feelings, anxieties, resentment, sadness, and even despair. He analyzes what causes or tends to produce equilibrium (fragility, calm and energy), then talks of regulating feelings and moods, and curing ourselves of the disease of materialism. He closes with an examination of techniques to help regulate our awareness of feelings and mood, including living mindfully and exercising compassion, resulting in happiness and wisdom. André's style is gentle and accessible; he is a good role model of someone who keeps his feelings and moods well-regulated.
